I've ordered from Ram Mount before so I'm familiar with the quality of their products, however, I wasn't completely convinced this holder would be suitable for my Garmin eTrex because there are a number of such items available all of which seem to attract poor reviews for one reason or another, including the official Garmin one.

The first thing I noticed when I installed the eTrex into the holder was that every cut-away was perfectly positioned to allow easy access to the buttons and even the retaining cord slot.

The second thing was how well the eTrex fitted into the holder leaving no slackness.

I mounted the holder on my bicycle using the Rail Ez-On Swivel Mount (see my review). During a rough ride out, so rough the batteries in the eTrex became dislodged but the holder performed perfectly without the slightest hint it wouldn't hold the eTrex in place firmly.

I would definitely recommend this product.
